HostelPups started with a simple frustration: finding a decent PG in India is awful. Brokers charge a month's rent. Landlords reject couples, bachelors, pet owners, and almost anyone who's not a married working professional. Listings are either fake, outdated, or hidden behind paywalls disguised as "premium memberships".

We're fixing that, one verified hostel at a time. No owner gets a live listing without clearing KYC — government ID, video call, live location, and a public-records cross-check. Photos are watermarked. Every listing has to say plainly who it welcomes: couples, bachelors, students, families, pet owners. Filters that should have existed for years finally do.

Right now we charge renters nothing. Browsing listings and contacting an owner are both free during the launch phase — no unlock fee, no subscription, no card details. When we do introduce a renter price, it will be a one-time charge shown up front, not a monthly subscription you forget to cancel. PG hunting is one-shot use, so the pricing should be too.

Why "HostelPups"?

Because finding a hostel shouldn't feel like an interrogation. It should feel like talking to a friendly pup who knows the neighborhood. (Also: we're proudly pet-friendly. Bring your dog, your cat, your hamster. We have listings for them too.)

Where we're onboarding

We're early. HostelPups is currently onboarding owners in six cities, starting with our founding city:

Kochi— our founding city, and where we're onboarding owners in person.
Bangalore + Chennai — onboarding owners now.
All other Kerala cities — self-serve listings open for owners.
Rest of India — coming as we expand city by city.

No live listings yet means no shortcuts on how we get there. Every owner who joins goes through the same verification before their listing goes live — we'd rather launch a city slowly with real, checked listings than fill it with anything unverified.

Who's behind this

HostelPups is built by a small team based in Kochi who went through the broker-and-fake-listing grind ourselves while hunting for PGs. We're not a VC-funded rebrand of an existing listings site — we're building the verification process, city by city, before we open the doors wide. If something on this site looks unfinished, it's because it is — we'd rather be honest about being early than dress up an empty marketplace as a busy one.

Our standard for "verified" is government ID, a live video call, confirmed location, and a cross-check against public records — for every single owner, before they can list. That bar doesn't move as we grow.
